Health Minister has instructed to continue to conduct night post-mortem at Kasaragod General Hospital; Reply to NA Nellikunn MLA's submission

Health Minister Veena George said that by utilizing the services of existing doctors, junior consultant (forensic surgeon) working here, Nursing Assistant and Attendant Grade-2 employees appointed in the working arrangement, they have been instructed to continue to conduct night post-mortem. The Minister informed this in response to the submission made by NA Nellikunn MLA in the Legislative Assembly. The minister said that the government is looking into whether the services of an additional forensic surgeon can be made available.
On March 19, the night post-mortem was started at the Kasaragod General Hospital. But since August 16, the doctors abstained from the night post-mortem, saying that the health department had not prepared the human resources required by the High Court to conduct the night post-mortem. It was in this situation that NA Nellikunn presented the submission in the Legislative Assembly. The health minister said that the government sees the necessity of night post-mortem as a necessity of the people and even if the inquest process is completed, the practice of not being able to conduct post-mortem after 4 o'clock should be changed
